Founded in 2021 by partners Kan Tong & Phil Tsang, Local Architecture Office is a practice that sets Architecture as a supporting role throughout the design process. Local Architecture Office (LAO) aims to reveal and discover the latent and potential of sites, and the notion of locality rooted in each specific regions or area through the activities of architectural / spatial practices. By a comprehensive understanding of material culture, ethnographical stories and the local network embedded in the subject-matter, LAO then reactivates things that we usually overseen and thus generate new design possibilities in lives. LAO adopts the methodology of collective creativity through active collaboration with parties or units outside of the field of architecture design. By engaging with experts from multi-disciplinary professionals and creative minds, LAO strives to expand the field of contemporary architectural practice for delivering diversified and hybridized results.
